Survival Preps Links: Where to get stuff!!
OK, we seem to be seeing the same questions over and over. Where do it get O2 absorbers, Mylar bags, buckets, grains, Freeze dry, MRE's, etc. etc.
I have tried to go back an find as many references as I can without being too redundant. If you want to add to this, please do. Limit it to references/links. Items on sale would be good, but leave the dates of the sale and "keyword" if there is one. Please delete your entry when it expires!!!. But no discussion. That's for the Forum. OK? Cool! If you need to convince family members, have them listen to one of these LDS seminars by Steve Shenk... Especially his point in seminar 4 where he says, "your guns won't protect your food supply, but your food supply will protect your guns"... |

Re: Survival Preps Links: Where to get stuff!!
Found a new site for some Mountain House products.
www.vitacost.com About 20% cheaper than Nitro-Pak, $5 shipping and they say they ship within 24 hours. I ordered about $150 worth of MH products and will report back with how it went. |
Re: Survival Preps Links: Where to get stuff!!
Well got to say vitacost.com for MH is the way to go, too bad they are pretty picked over like everyone else. Got my stuff already today and it was the correct stuff, and they even accidently packed a couple extra packets of MH products.
Way better experience than my last Nitro-Pak order which took a couple months and was incorrect and took another week to get the correct MH products in. |

I use PayPal Get my flashlights and batteries ('bout 1/2 of them) Straight from Hong Kong, cuts many middlemen. Slow boat shipping, but no hurry, right? |
Re: Survival Preps Links: Where to get stuff!!
I ordered from Nitro-pak on 31 July. Got an email last week that the order had been shipped. The supply of Mountain House can't be back ordered too much for all of the stuff I ordered. I even got a UPS shipping #. Was this "shortage" contrived or just short lived?

C&R guns. New guns. Lots and lots of ammo including the less common calibers. Extra magazines. Receivers so you can build your own rifles. Great company with excellent customer service. Highly recommended.
http://aimsurplus.com/ If I just want to buy some extra magazines for the best price, I usually end up at 44Mag. Especially for AR-15 mags like the hot new PMAGs. http://www.44mag.com/ For high quality FAL parts and mags: http://www.dsarms.com/ Wholesaler for guns and lots of things for guns: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/index.html If you are interested in learning about guns, where to buy them, what kinds to consider, and how to use them.... then you need to start hanging out on some of the gunboards. http://www.falfiles.com/forums/index.php?s= http://forums.1911forum.com/index.php http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums http://thehighroad.us/index.php http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/index.php http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/index.php http://sigforum.com/eve/forums http://hkpro.com/forum/index.php And the three online places where I buy guns: http://www.gunsamerica.com/Default.htm http://www.gunbroker.com/ http://www.auctionarms.com/ Three places I buy stuff from that give me dealer prices for my C&R. Sweet treats for diabetics
If you have a family member who cannot tolerate sugars but still enjoys them. Aspartame is deadly and splenda or sucralose are suspect. Stevia is probably safe, but does not taste as much like sugars as the near sugars that don't digest, or only very partially digest and do not cause insulin spikes.
Watch out with maltitol. We find it the best tasting and it works in some cooking functions that no others will, but eating an excessive amount of it will give you the runs, and some are more sensitive than others. Try a little first. There is a belgian chocolate made with this and some people would go wild and eat 8 bars and get in trouble. Maltitol for using in recipes like corn syrup. Pecan pie!! Or if you make yogurt but want it sweetened. That kind of thing. http://www.sugarlessplace.com/sweeteners.htm very good tasting honey substitute http://www.low-carb.com/hosufrimho.html jams and jellies made with maltitol http://www.memejamsnjelli.com/str_sugarfree.html I just ordered from the last 3 places and will update with delivery reports. But my wife has used the honey of that brand and loves it. You can also just google maltitol and use it in your home canning. Who has it in bulk changes. Granular maltitol is recommended for home canning uses of sugar. Birch sugar or xylitol and its close relative Erythritol. Nice taste but not for some kinds of cooking. Good for putting in coffee or tea, on hot cereal if you want a sweetner, etc. It is not nearly as runs producing, in fact near zero for most people. It can be cooked with, but you have to mix it in water first which makes it no good for many recipes. I think my wife can use it for custard or pudding, for example, if she dissolves it first into the water that then she dissolves the dry milk in. http://store.honeyvillegrain.com/gra...ritol44lb.aspx Plus it works for non cooking uses of granular sugar. |

Another source for Mylar pouches & Oxygen Absorbers is the LDS Church itself. Their online catalog links for pouch & absorbers are:
http://www.ldscatalog.com/webapp/wcs...1%26sortOr%3D1 http://www.ldscatalog.com/webapp/wcs...1%26sortOr%3D1 I'm not sure about the size of the absorbers, but the mylar pouches are 1 gal capacity, 7 mils thick (thicker than many out there) - $94 per case of 250. Best of all...FREE SHIPPING in the US. |
Re: Survival Preps Links: Where to get stuff!!
Reality check already listed them, but I would like to add they cost half or that range of most dealers and give very friendly personalized service on a huge number of non hybrid seeds.
